It’s not always easy to tell if a child has a speech, language or literacy difficulty, and children who struggle in these areas often do well with other aspects of their development. It is important to remember children develop speech and language at different rates, however if you find that your child isn't able to do what most other children the same age can, please contact Grace to discuss if your child would benefit from a consult.
Appointments are usually one hour in total duration, with 45 minutes of direct session time and 15 minutes dedicated to indirect services. Indirect services are an essential component of high quality tailored care, and include activities like documenting progress, corresponding with stakeholders, developing personalised communication aids and much more. The initial assessment session generally takes 60-90 minutes and therapy sessions vary between 30-45 minutes depending on the age and needs of your child.
There are many factors that influence a child’s rate of progress in therapy, therefore it is difficult to predict treatment length. It is dependent on the nature and severity of the difficulty your child has, in addition to the amount of homework practise completed outside of the clinic. The support your child needs could last from several weeks to a number of months.
Costs are dependent on the type and length of appointment (e.g. assessment, therapy, review) and the available funding. Please contact us to discuss your options.
